Man oh man. It's been an interesting year. It's been an even more interesting time getting this ( Where have I been?Collapse )
journal community up and running again. Yes, that's right. For those of you who haven't noticed yet, this is now a community. Which means I had to delete all the precious past posts. But fret not young cake admirer. For I archived all the old posts and will make those available for viewing soon.
I was up till 4 in the morning working out some of the more major kinks of this new community. As you can tell (or maybe not) there are a lot of smaller kinks to work out. I still have color schemes to change, layouts to move around, and I'm really not digging the new header image as much as I thought I would. But all that tweaking will come in time.
For now, I have to post what I promised. Cakes. I mean, really, that's why you are all hear. Waiting patiently for 8 months. That's dedication, and it makes a grown man cry (not me, but I am touched)
So here we have a new take on an old design. I remember delivering this cake to Nestldown up in the Santa Cruz mountains. Windy mountain roads combined with top heavy cake = bad news. Good thing I delivered this sucker in two parts. It was still a pain to put it together without ruining any of the decor, but I got it. Also, and you cant tell, but the cake is balancing precariously on one edge. I kind of think this cake looks like an upside-down octopus or squid. Some sort of cephalopod for sure. What do you think?
I was expecting a phone call later that day telling me that the cake had toppled but instead I got one saying that the cake was amazing.
So yeah, I hope everyone is doing well. I'm sorry for the long delay.
How is everyone? What have you been up to? I've read that some of you have gotten engaged/married. That's fantastic news!
PS-it's good to be back, I've missed you guys.
PPS-If anyone is good with graphics, hook a cake baking dude up. I'll probably hold another icon making thing later, cause that was fun and I like getting you guys involved. If there was only a way for me to make a monitor where you could taste what was on the screen. On second thought, that could end very badly for many people. :)
