100_2220 - So clean you can eat off of it.

100_2220, originally uploaded by margaretsbakery.

Here is a cake that was made to emulate a placemat that was hand painted.

1/2 sheet neapolitan with red buttercream.

fondant sheet hand painted to make the background of the placemat.

All flowers were hand painted and cut out separately and later fit back together like puzzle pieces.

All in all this took about a day to complete, but I think it was worth it.

For 50 people.

I adore this one - the bright colors, the flowers, the stripes! It looks like it was a TON of work. This is unlike any cake I have ever seen. Fabulous job!

That is so beautiful. I love it when people just pick ideas from "a catalogue" but make up their own. I didn't know that it was even possible to ask something that looked like hand painted with bright acrylic paints.

I like how unique it is compared to all the cakes I see at weddings I have helped cater.

The flowers and the border are very Mary Englebright, aren't they?
How cute.

what was this for, do you know? It's obviously not a wedding cake.

Nicely done! I love that the design has such a meaningful feel to it--like the customer felt so strongly about the placemat that they would have you reproduce it. It looks like ya'll did a great job, too (I love the buttercream color...amazing!)
