I think the cake topper is almost as tall as the actual cake. And I think I actually kind of like this cake topper too. Im not much of a cake topper kind of guy. And now I think Im just going to see how many times I can mention the words cake topper in this post.

Cake...

Top(per) tier 6" = Chocolate Raspberry Mousse Torte
Middle tier 10" = Orange Almond
Bottom tier 14" = Strawberry Grand Marnier

Covered with Buttercream and the champagne bubble design with a sage green ribbon at the base of each tier.

For 100 people at the Adobe Lodge at Santa Clara University.

PS-Cake Topper.

  • Is that Lladro?

I've always been fond of the artist's work.

That's a beautiful cake topper, and the cake too.
    • I was going to say; really looks like a Lladro to me. We have a few (inherited) and even though i'm also very much not into cake toppers or tchotchkes, they're very lovely.
      • Haha, I was going to point out too that it's Lladro-esque. I never thought about using a Lladro as a cake-topper, but I really like the way it looks.
  • It is a beautiful cake topper, to be sure, and a most lovely cake.
  • Beautiful!

I'll have to post the picture of my wedding cake project. I based it off one of your cakes because your cake was so, so pretty. Mine was all right. It'll be a while because my instructor, bless her heart, is not so tech savvy.
  • cake = beautiful
    topper = eww
  • It's a very serene topper. I like it.
  • kinda off topic

I saw this and thought you needed to see it: http://gamecakes.com/
    • Re: kinda off topic

Haha, thanks, I've been keeping an eye on that site through one of the game sites I read. I really need to step it up and submit a cake for that.

  • Cake topper? Cake, cake top? Or topper de la cake?

Actually it does work. It's nice.
  • How lovely!

I was in Japan, which own an art beside a bakery, ice cream and cake, such as those who write a blog. Arbitrary, but in the future I hope it will help link. If it's okay, my blog also links please. ICE CREAM JAZZ~SWEETS in Japan~ (http://toro-abcsong.blogspot.com/)
  • Cake Topper!

You are such a freak! By the way, loved the jacket and glad you are home! I was really missing the cake posts. :)
  • I love the topper. I wish I could find one like it.
  • cake topper

i too, noticed that the cake topper reminded me of Lladro. I have never thought of using Lladro as a cake topper. It makes a lovely cake topper. The cake topper makes the already gorgeous cake even sweeter.
  • Oooh... pretty Lladro cake topper (or is it Nao? I want to reach through the PC, lift it up and check the bottom to be sure).

ETA: Yes, that is Lladro. The piece is called "Everlasting Love." :)

  • It is Lladro.

It is Lladro. Google is useful.

  • That cake topper is very 'Jane Austin.' I like it as well.
  • The cake topper adds a certain elegance to the entire cake.:)
  • I am SOOOOOOOO glad you're back! I missed looking at cakes, it may have even dampered the enjoyment of reading my friends page knowing I hadn't seen one of your posts in a while. It's so hard to plan a wedding and figure out what kind of cake you want. I keep looking at your cakes for inspiration. So far that really bright blue one you had a while back with white swag like fondant draping down the side is my favourite.

On the topic of cake toppers, do you find a lot of people use them these days? Or is the general trend to have flowers?
    • Id say a fair share of people use cake toppers.

And thanks, it's good to be back. Sometimes you need to go away to figure out where you are.

  • Yummy cake, yummier CAKE TOPPER.

    =]
  • Haha, thanks for the laugh. ;-) I have to say, though, that the topper looks like it's made out of porcelain and heavier than the cake itself... and that it can fall off and break into pieces!
  • haha, that was what I thought before I even scrolled down to see what you had to say about it. "that cake topper is way too big for that cake" I do like it though. Just doesn't look quite balanced.
  • Wait, what's that thing on top of the cake? ;)
  • Did this cake have a topper? :P
  • That looks like a Lladro sculpture. Those are normally very heavy. May I ask how you managed to get the cake to support its weight? Thanks.
